THE NEW DIRECTIVE AND THE NEW COMMISSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRITICS WEEK APPOINTED

The National Council of the SNCCI – National Syndicate of Italian Film Critics, met on Saturday 15 January 2022, proceeded with the appointment of the new Executive Committee, from today so composed:

President: Cristiana Paternò

Vice president: Pedro Armocida

Administrator: Francesco Crispino

Secretary: Adriano De Grandis

Communication Manager: Giulio Sangiorgio

This is the first declaration of Cristiana Paternò:

"I am aware of the responsibility inherent in leading such a prestigious association and collecting the important legacy of Bruno Torri, Lino Miccichè, Franco Montini and Piero Spila, first woman at the helm of the Critics Union. The Sncci, who turned fifty in 2021, has always been involved in the cultural battles for cinema as an art, as research and as an expression of the best energies of our society. Today we are experiencing a delicate transition, accelerated by the pandemic, a transformation that jeopardizes the very survival of the forms of production and distribution that have accompanied us so far: the Sncci is ready to face these challenges alongside the authors. The Critics' Week, just renewed in composition with the confirmation of the general delegate Beatrice Fiorentino for the next three years, it will be its fundamental resource. The new executive, released from the assembly last November, with Pedro Armocida Vice President, together with Francesco Crispino, Adriano De Grandis and Giulio Sangiorgio, guarantees a renewal program consistent with our history and our intellectual heritage "

The National Council has also elected the new commission of the International Critics' Week for the three-year period 2022-2024, so structured:

General Delegate: Beatrice Fiorentino, confirmed unanimously.

Selection commission: Enrico Azzano, Chiara Borroni, Ilaria Feole and Federico Pedroni.

This is Beatrice Fiorentino's comment:

«I take up this challenge in full awareness of the crucial period we are going through: a difficult and yet decisive moment for the future of the film industry, of festivals, of the audiovisual sector. It will be essential to offer signs of encouragement and trust, intercepting elements of novelty and freshness, chasing everything that can make us hope for a rebirth. I will face this three years together with a renewed team, within which enthusiasm and competence converge, a great variety of experiences and looks, essential qualities to be able to transform the uncertainties of the present into fertile research opportunities. The responsibility of identifying new possible cinema routes will be more important than ever "

SNCCI himself in the CS wishes good work to the new employees and thanks the outgoing members of the Executive Committee for the valuable work done in recent years., or the president Franco Montini, Piero Spila, Bruno Torri and Raffaele Meale, and those of the Selection Committee, or Paola Casella, Simone Emiliani and Roberto Manassero.
