After the success of the edition 2020, also for the 2021 Biografilm festival will keep its traditional dates and will run from 4 al 14 June in Bologna. Biografilm was the first festival in Italy to take place online in 2020, thanks to the collaboration with MYmovies, which for the first time hosted a festival on its platform, with over 46 thousand reservations for over 40 film program. For the edition 2021 the number of films on the program will increase, until you get to a number among 80 e i 100 film and the entire programming will be offered online in Italy. In addition to online screenings, there will be offline screenings in line with anti-contagion regulations in Bologna, outdoor shows and in cinemas at the Pop Up Cinema Medica Palace circuit, naturally if the health situation is favourable. In-person and online shows will be subject to payment. Biografilm Festival takes place with the contribution from the Department of Culture and Landscape of the Emilia-Romagna Region. «We are working on a selection of powerful titles. In many of these the theme of activism stands out, which can be found throughout our program" anticipates director Leena Pasanen. The poster of the seventeenth edition highlights a work that the artist Sissi – present on the jury – dedicated to Biografilm: Lingual bloom, 2020 (china, 50x70cm). The drawing chosen as the image of the festival, in the words of the artist herself, “represents a group of languages, revealing muscular petals and laryngeal roots in the act of expressing themselves in a new language. A kind of flower sensitive to the environment that changes until it blooms in a wordless message. The flowering of the lingual flower is investigated by the artist with a taxonomy on the multiple lingual openings and knots, constituting a project of drawings in progress called Linguario".

The jury of the Biografilm Italia Competition 2021 is trained by the writer and film critic Elisa Cuter, recently in bookstores with the volume Ripartire dal Desire published by minimum fax, by director Pierfrancesco Li Donni, winner of the Biografilm Italia Competition 2021 with Our Way, and by the artist Sissi. author of the Biografilm poster 2021.
