As far as we are concerned, we point out our friend Kassim Yassin Saleh and his short Pasolini The wind under your feet which follows the red thread of the story of Rome through the last ones started with the success of the first short film IDRIS.

The director was interviewed by the DIRE agency to which he explained the genesis and theme of this latest work.

The path of an artist along the streets of Rome but above all through humanity, in the name of a new neorealist language tuned to the rhythm of today's reality, to send a message of unity and peace that is more than ever necessary now that the world gives the impression of being "about to explode". This is the impression that the short film "The wind under your feet" leaves, latest work by director and actor Kassim Yassin Saleh and produced by Andrea di Nardo's Laser film. To the agency Say the director, born in Djibouti but artistically raised in Italy, a country that claims to feel its own as a homeland, tells how the adventure of this "short - documentary" which follows Monsieur David's day was born, "Foot actor", theatrical artist who through this part of the body expresses his art and his poetics. In the film David crosses the city marked by a continuous dialogue between the reflections and sensations of an internal reality and the images, the places and symbols of the outside world.

To characterize it, numerous suitcases in tow. The same suitcases he had on the occasion of the decisive meeting with Saleh, in 2018.

"I was at the Padua station returning from a festival - recalls the director - and I see him with all his luggage as he tries to buy the train ticket". Saleh said they had already met in Rome months earlier: he was impressed with his art and monsieur David fell in love with his short "Idris", with which the director had presented himself at the Venice Film Festival.

"Let's talk, and he begins to retrace some moments of his life, ”says Saleh, who at that point takes out his cell phone and starts taking it back. "The idea for" The wind under your feet "was already there - says the director: "A day in the life of this artist".

The performer's path is not accidental, and dotted with encounters also of spiritual value. Saleh says that "David is a Buddhist and along his path he passes by a Muslim boy who prays and other representatives of the great religions", a narrative then, which develops "in the name of peace, of unity among peoples ".

As a backdrop to Monsieur David's walk, many iconic places in the capital and its relationship with cinema, from the bridge over the Tiber of Pasolini's Accattione to the rides and faces of Federico Fellini. But not only, there is also no lack of spaces that are the protagonists of recent chronicles. "At the beginning the artist – Saleh explains – leave a rose in the San Lorenzo district, where young Denise was killed, in homage to a life that died too soon ”explains the director.

To permeate the atmosphere of the short, the colors that refer to the old Super films 16, a specific desire of the director, that the Nazarene colorist Neri has transformed into reality. Saleh says the team “was incredible, people who manage to change a film ". A special mention the director, dedicates it to the German screenwriter, but for years in Italy, Heidrun Schleef, former author of the "Son's Room", by Nanni Moretti, last Italian Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, in 2001. “She was more than a screenwriter - says Saleh - she supervised the work, he gave me a lot of advice and ideas. It was a huge fortune to work with her, an honour".
