The films of our life – The exciting journey into the seventh art comes alive with the votes of the great game to discover the films most loved by the public

The great game of THE FILMS OF OUR LIVES enter the heart: knockout tournaments begin to determine the winning titles in the 14 categories and first they face each other i International dramatic films of the 1900s with the votes starting from May 1st, then those Italian drama of the '900, i Italian drama films from 2000 al 2020 e The tv series from 2000 al 2020. In these three categories the competition starts the 3 May. Following, the rest will leave 11 categories.

The great initiative therefore enters the hottest phase The films of our life launched by the monthly Ciak and from National Cinema Museum of Turin, with Film Commission Torino Piemonte, as part of the Turin City of Cinema celebrations 2020 and with the Media Partnership of Rai Movie e RaiPlay aimed at decreeing not the best films ever but those most loved by the general public. A tournament that overall involves beyond 500 titles, chosen at the end of a long selection process to which enthusiasts have contributed, in hundreds of messages and posts. A way to live our passions even in a difficult period like the one we are going through.

The key feature of The films of our life is to "challenge" each other knockout the selected films, in a sort of grand slam of our passions.

The tournaments that start first concern the four categories in which to compete, from the 32mi final, they will be ben 64 film. The others 11 they will start from the final 16mi, with 32 titles competing in each category.

followed, for each shift, the round of 16, then the quarters, the semifinal, up to the finals that will decide only one winner per category, or the title that will have involved the most, excited, most of us.

These are the 14 categories in the race: International dramatic films of the 1900s, Italian dramatic films of the 1900s, Animated film of the 1900s, International comedies of the 1900s, Italian comedies of the 1900s, Animated films from 2000 al 2020, International drama films from 2000 al 2020, Italian drama films from 2000 al 2020, Science fiction film, International comedy films from 2000 al 2020, Italian comedy films from 2000 al 2020, Tv series from 2000 al 2020, Great silent films and the special category of films set in Turin and Piedmont.

The complete list of films in the running in the various categories it is published on May issue of Ciak, out on 30 April, who also dedicates a cover toi Films of our life.

To preview the big game will be, from 1May, just the most awaited category, that of the International Drama Films of the 1900s who see some unprecedented challenges (and no holds barred) like the one between Casablanca e All about my mother, or between Dance with wolves e Saturday night fever, just to name a few.

They will follow on 3 May the other three categories starting from the 32mi final. And there are no lack of compelling challenges: between Italian dramatic films of the 1900s, eg, The terrace, Ettore Scola, will have to deal with The sweet life Federico Fellini, Overtaking by Dino Risi (1962) with The Devil in Body Marco Bellocchio (1986), e Radio Arrow by Luciano Ligabue (1998) with The Great Binge Marco Ferreri (1973)

and to Italian drama films from 2000 al 2020 among the unmissable matches Children's Paranza by Branko (2019) vs. What will become of us? by Giovanni Veronesi (2003), e Call me with your name Luca Guadagnino (2017) vs. A.C.A.B. d Stefano Sollima (2012).

For the Tv series from 2000 al 2020 among the challenges Boris vs. NCIS, Breaking Bad vs. The O.C. e Girls vs. The Walking Dead it's still Homeland vs. Suburra - The Series.

They will not fail, inside The films of our life, exciting challenges also in the other categories. Among these, for example for i Science fiction film 2001: Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick (1968) vs. The shape of the water by Guillermo del Toro (2017), e Star Wars at George Lucas (1977) vs. Avatar by James Cameron (2009). and to Animated film of the 1900s among the challenges: Fritz the Cat di Ralph Bakshi (1972) vs. Not too cheerful by Bruno Bozzetto (1976), e West and Soda by Bruno Bozzetto (1965) vs. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? di Robert Zemeckis e Richard Williams (1988). And still among the matches of the Animated films from 2000 al 2020 The enchanted city by Hayao Miyazaki (2001) vs. The Lion King Jon Favreau 's live action version of 2019 e The Corpse Bride by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson (2005) vs. Minions by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda (2015). Furthermore, remember the special category of films made in Turin and Piedmont – always to celebrate the year that the Savoy city dedicates to cinema - which will see great classics from the past juxtaposed, come Cabiria by Giovanni Pastrone (1914) to much more recent successes, come The Divo Paolo Sorrentino (2008).

Un po’ as it happens at home, maybe in the days of the long quarantine that is about to end, when choosing which movie to watch, or in convivial situations, when you end up making charts of the most popular films or improvising the "tower game" between this or that title.

In this way, the public will be able to choose the titles that have fascinated them most, turn after turn, until the finals, retracing the history of cinema, from its origins to the present day, through a knockout tournament online on the site https://www.ciakmagazine.it/i-film-della-nostra-vita/ and on the social profiles of Ciak commenting, criticizing and supporting their favorite titles.

The intent of the initiative THE FILMS OF OUR LIVES is to offer not only a great game, but above all a journey into the seventh art, which intertwines popular culture and author films, giving new life to a very rich and deeply felt heritage, able to entertain and also represent an unprecedented cross-section of our tastes in cinema.

The initiative THE FILMS OF OUR LIVES, launched by the monthly Ciak, was born on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the opening of the National Cinema Museum at the Mole Antonelliana and the birth of the Turin Piedmont Film Commission and is part of Turin City of Cinema 2020. A year-long film, a project by City of Turin, National Cinema Museum e Film Commission Torino Piemonte, with the support of Ministry of Heritage and Culture, in collaboration with Piemonte region, Turin Culture Foundation (www.torinocittadelcinema.it) and the Media Partnership Rai.
