Two friends or the perfect triangle of Louis Garrel - review of Marina fearful

If just a few months ago he has had great success in the feature film The faithful man room, second film actor and director - and son of art - Louis Garrel, here comes in Italian cinemas, the 4 July, also his work before, ie Two Friends, realized in 2015.

Reflecting fully the rules of post nouvellevaguista film, Two Friends tells, in fact, a tender and troubled love triangle. The love triangle is created between the shy and awkward Clément (Vincent Macaigne), his lifelong friend Abel (the same Louis Garrel) and the beautiful and mysterious Mona (Golshifteh Farahani), who by day works as a saleswoman at a bakery at the Gare du Nord, while at night he returns to prison, where he is finishing serve a sentence. It will only be after losing a train in the evening that the girl, in the company of two friends, rediscover the love for life and the importance of freedom.

E se, therefore, the same way as did his father - the great director Philippe Garrel - Louis has always paid much attention to relationships and, more generally, interpersonal, also in this interesting its first work does not hesitate to investigate the complex links and links created amorous friendship between the three protagonists. And the thing itself, despite its complexity, It is somewhat succeeded.

Due Amici's, in fact, a little tender and delicate product, with clear echoes truffautiani (impossible not to think, on the whole, bellissimo al Jules and Jim, of the 1962), which it works mainly thanks to a camera that never comes off the three protagonists and their faces, giving us every time intense close-ups and making themselves quite capable of digging into their souls, for a final result with a very strong personality and a welcome retro taste, from time immemorial, never hurts.
