We like every year there have been controversies around at the Cannes Film Festival together at the Venice and Berlin interpret moods, the new directions of the film and why not also those of the now planetary policies . . .

The inauguazione of 71 Th Cannes Film Festival was conducted by Edouard Baer come Master of ceremonies. “After two magnificent performances in 2008 and 2009 who wowed and amazed the audience in equal measure, Edouard Baer is back at the helm of the ceremonies as MC.

The opening night was presented a film from which it was expected more: Everybody Knows (Everybody knows) Asghar Farhadi fact opens the Competition of 71 Th Cannes Film Festival. And 'the eighth film by Asghar Farhadi, shot entirely in Spanish in the Iberian Peninsula, illustrating the story of Laura of Spanish origin, who lives with her husband and children in Buenos Aires. When they return to his native town in Spain for a family celebration, an unexpected event changes the course of their lives. The family, its ties and moral choices imposed on them lie, as in all the scripts Farhadi, in the heart of the plot. It is not the first time that the opening film was neither English nor French, starting with the 2004 quando Pedro Almodóvar presented the bad education. The opening film of this year's psychological thriller starring an exceptional cast as Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Ricardo Darin, but it was not enough to be successful. Again Asghar Farhadi uses a first-class team: Jose Luis Alcaine on photography (a regular collaborator of Pedro Almodóvar, Carlos Saura and Bigas Luna), costume designer Sonia Grande (Midnight in Paris di Woody Allen, The Others di Alejandro Amenabar) and the Iranian publisher Hayedeh Safiyari, continuing a long and fruitful collaboration with the director after working along with four of his films, including the two winning films with Oscar. Despite this the film has reached the pinnacle of other works by the same author. In fact, over the past decade, Asghar Farhadi has quickly established himself as one of the most influential filmmakers, internationally recognized level of Iran, both for its taut scripts and thoroughly elaborated, both the virtuosity of his realism as a director. Remember the Berlinale, the film A Separation (2011) awarded the Golden Bear, in addition to the Golden Globe, César and an Oscar for best foreign film. Farhadi is then entered in the official selection at Cannes with The Past (2013, Best Actress for Bérénice Bejo) e The Salesman (2016, best screenplay and best actor for Shahab Hosseini), with whom he also won the Oscar for best foreign film. But in his latest opera Iranian director is affected by the choice of dealing with the theme of revenge in an environment away from her and affected by its own experience distorting the perspective of a story set in Spain but not with the heart and brain of a Western, but to an Eastern. Iran although affected Western culture before Khomeini has an eye to the east. Of this contamination pay the consequences of the stellar cast that barely recognize. Sia Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem do not seem comfortable in their roles. The various deficiencies in the script are subjecting the viewer to solving the Thriller details. What is surprising is photography with never seen bright and flashy colors first by an Iranian author where polychrome tones are attenuated.

However it is certain that the selected Cannes films have been very successful and we'll see if it also applies to this film. In fact, the selection of last year's winning worldwide as a result remember.
