The film work of the American photographer Daniel McCabe, its world premiere at the 74th Venice Film Festival in Venice, offers a fresh look and without filters on the bloodiest and long since the Second World War conflict, an uninterrupted conflict. The documentary, following four compelling characters - an informant, a patriotic military commander, a trader in minerals and a displaced tailor - shows for the first time viewers overall snapshot of the problems facing this charming country, according to an authentically Congolese perspective. The Colonel "Kasongo", Mamadou, Mama Romance and Hakiza embody the extraordinary resilience of a people who, over several generations, He lived and died as a result of the wave generated by the war brutality.
The director commented Daniel McCabe: “The Congo is an incredibly special place, full of contrasts: beauty and horror, hope and despair. I worked there as a photographer for a long time, more approfondivo its history, more I realized how unique both in its problems in its quality. I outlined the project of a conceptual film aims to explore the root causes that led to the current situation. In 2011abbiamo we are woven a wide network within the mining region of Kivu, looking for stories that were describing the conditions that have perpetuated the conflict. The Month of the Documentary is now in its fifth year and is presented to the public as a "popular festival" to offer the best of Italian and international documentary production in Rome and in a territorial network involving major Italian cities from north to south of the country. The title of this new edition is the continent HUMAN.
