The protagonist of the Earth Doc Marco Amenta MAGIC ISLAND: review of Marina fearful

In Italian cinemas from 12 January, Magic Island è l’ultima opera del documentarista Marco Amenta, which he tells us about the famous American actor and character across the board, of Sicilian origin, Vincent Schiavelli. The story starts from NYC, where he lives and works as a musician Andrea, twenty-seven child actor, who - despite being very attached to her father - in the last years of the life of these is no longer able to cultivate the relationship with him. One day Andrea gets a call from Sicily and . . .
The Amenta documentary, Look for the enigmatic - but not too - the figure of Vincent Schiavelli, either by the narrative technique used, Look for the magic of the places narrated, end vision leaves a pleasant and rare feeling of inner contentment the viewer. At first the story struggling to take off with the camera that tends to linger over on the boy's everyday life: But takes its rhythm on arrival in Sicily as the figure of Vincent Schiavelli becomes less mysterious in a visual and soundtrack growing fruit of the protagonist himself who becomes gradually more and more "present". And the inhabitants, the Parfums, the colors of the Sicilian village explode in the true sense of the word on the big screen, making us feel immediately part of those magical places, real transfiguration of the late Schiavelli. Explosion, this, which then gives way to a renewed peace, when it comes time to leave the land of his father and to return, reborn, to everyday life. In the land of Amenta documentary is the real star, treated as a real living being, with his saving power. Great gimmick to tell a character like that of Schiavelli, we've seen over and over again, but that, perhaps, we never got to know enough. The earth is entrusted, therefore, the important task of give him life. For the rest, very few - and very short - are the archive footage and even frontal interviews are absent in a story that is more like a feature film. What the critics could move then,? The doc appears sometimes lacking in spontaneity and overly built? However the end result is a contemplative and poetic film, but also alive, touching and cheerful at the same time never excessive.
