On this spring Saturday, Cannes compares ways of making cinema that are not only geographically opposite.
On one side Agassi by Korean Park Chan-wook . Years 30, during the Japanese colonization, uA young Korean woman (Sookee) she is hired as a waitress for a rich Japanese woman (Hideko),  who lives as a recluse in a huge palace under the tyranny of her uncle. But Sookee and Hideko have secrets. With the help of a scammer who courts Hideko, has other plans for Hideko herself. After a captivating first part, the director gets lost in the maze of Count De Sade's practices.
On the other hand, the German film TONI ERDMANN Maren Ade. The story of Ines and the relationship with her father who splits into the joking Toni Erdmann . Cinematography with hilarious and grotesque implications but which discounts the slowness of camera movements
For the side view In some perspectivetwo other film school comparisons were screened, on the one hand the American THE TRANSFIGURATION at Michael O'Shea – We are in Queens, New York. Milo is a teenager and his only refuge is the apartment he shares with his older brother where he spends his time watching vampire movies. The arrival of a new neighbor will lead him to discover new sensations. On the other hand, the Asian cinema of Japanese Koji Fukada that with its Fuchi NI Tatsu immerses us in the dark depths of the human mind. A particular noir that leaves no room. We are in a quiet Japanese suburb where Toshio and his wife Akie apparently lead a peaceful life with their daughter. A morning, an old friend of Toshio's arrives at his study after serving ten years in prison. From here unfolds a compelling narrative.
Always on Saturday for the independent review La Seimane de la Critique  two Italian films have passed: let's start with the young director Alessandro Comodin with The Times will come soon. Pretentious film that cannot resolve the emotions that the director would like to communicate with the available means. Immersed in this world of poetic experimentation, he lives with them as few before them had dared to do: sensually, really, madly.
In the Out of Competition selection the film IT BFG by Steven Spielberg who combines the talents of three great storytellers: Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg to fit the British author's classic cinematic way. The incredible story of a little girl and the giant who will make him discover the wonders and dangers of the Land of Giants. Their meeting will change everything. Flanked by a true story. WRONG ELEMENTS di Jonathan Littell. Uganda 1989. The true story of the LRA rebel movement against the then government. A “army” that grows using more than 60.000 teenagers in 25 years.
