“A 94 years, #BrunoTorri died this morning in Rome, critic, journalist and film historian who was among the founders, in 1971, of our National Union of Italian Film Critics, of which he has been president since 1995 al 2012, then general secretary and finally administrator until 2021.

«#BrunoTorri – declares Cristiana Paternò, President SNCCI – he is an unforgettable figure for all of us. Soul of the Union has been and will always be a point of reference despite all the changes that have taken place in our profession. For all of us and for me personally, also for the very strong friendship that bound us, it is an irreparable loss and we will always remember it».

Franco Montini, President of SNCCI since 2013, when he took his baton, al 2022 remember #BrunoTorri like this: «Critic, essayist, teacher, cultural organizer, he embodied, ahead of his time, an intellectual capable of expressing himself in the most diverse ways in the service of a single and precise objective: the defense and diffusion of auteur cinema. He did it with passion, rigor, great generosity, without ever trying to gain personal gain from it. There are many, there are many people who must be grateful to him and in particular the members of the SNCCI of which he was the founder, together with a small group of critics. Torri has always actively participated in the affairs of the association, of which he was president for over ten years, taking charge, what was necessary, to solve problems that had endangered its survival. Today we remember him fondly as a colleague and as a man».

Bruno Torri's funeral will be held in Rome on Tuesday 14 July at 10 at the Egyptian temple at the Verano cemetery.
