Review: Presented in competition at the 76th edition of the Berlin Film Festival, My Wife Cries is the latest feature film by German director Angela Schanelec.

The story staged, therefore, It's Thomas's (Vladimir Vulević), worker on a construction site, that one day, while he is at work, receives a phone call from his wife Carla (Agathe Bonitzer): he will have to pick her up at the hospital, because the woman has just had a car accident, which resulted in the death of his friend David. Thomas, But, its part, doesn't really seem to understand her and, after a strong one and will irremediably end up closing more and more.

In My Wife Cries, therefore, a seemingly happy and harmonious marital relationship is called into question by an unexpected event. Parallel to the story between Thomas and Carla, Furthermore, we witness the stories of their friends and colleagues, and let's see how all of them, each in their own way, struggle to find a necessary meeting point.

In My Wife Cries, so, in making the dialogues absolute protagonists, Angela Schanelec opted for frequent fixed camera shots (except for the moments when the protagonists are walking down the street), with an almost total absence of music (except for purely diegetic music) and acting performances that follow the canons of Brechtian estrangement in every way. Con My Wife Cries, Angela Schanelec ha, therefore, revealed great sensitivity and great knowledge of the human soul. We will see in the next few days what the jury thinks of this rich Berlin competition.
