Nora e Agnes si riavvicinano al padre Gustav, charismatic and once famous director, which he offers to Nora, theater actress, a part in the film that will bring him back to prominence. Lei declines, solo per scoprire che la parte viene affidata a una giovane e ambiziosa star di Hollywood. Oltre ad affrontare la complicata relazione con il padre, le due sorelle dovranno vedersela anche con lei.

Review: deep and personal film, which talks about difficult family relationships and the need to make peace with the past. The tone is intimate, at times touching, but the pace is very slow and this makes for challenging viewing. Some scenes feel too long and not always necessary, and the film lasts longer than it should. A half hour less would have made it more effective and direct.

The bond between father and daughters is treated with respect and sensitivity. Emotions are not shouted, but they are read in silences, in small gestures, in moments of distance. In certain passages, the writing manages to communicate what the characters cannot say verbally.

The cast is of excellent quality. Skarsgård plays a fragile father, marked by the past but still looking for a role in his daughters' lives. Reinsve is intense and measured, very convincing in his restrained pain. Elle Fanning gives the film a fresher and more contemporary note.

The ending doesn't give any clear answers, but it leaves open the possibility of reconciliation. It's a bittersweet ending, which invites us to reflect on how difficult it is to mend certain bonds, but also on how, sometimes, It doesn't take much to reopen a dialogue.

In summary, Sentimental Value is a sincere and well acted film, which touches deep chords but risks getting lost in its own slow pace and a somewhat dispersive narrative structure. It will appeal to those looking for intimate, family stories, told with delicacy and attention to detail.

Di recente, tre cassette MiniDV sulla vita a Gaza sono venute alla luce. Quella che parte come la ricerca di un ex compagno di cella del 1989 si trasforma in un viaggio inatteso dal nord al sud di Gaza insieme a Hasan, guida locale di cui non si sa più nulla.

A cinematic reflection on memory, la perdita e il tempo che passa, attraverso una Gaza ormai scomparsa e vite forse smarrite per sempre.

A cinematic reflection on memory, loss and the passage of time, filming a Gaza populated by ghosts that no longer exists today. Three MiniDV tapes documenting life in Gaza in 2001 they are found by the director: the images they contain are now the testimony of a place and a time that no longer exist. What began as a search for a former fellow prisoner, a man lost in time and war, leads to an unexpected journey from north to south Gaza with Hasan, a local guide whose fate remains unknown. The camera moves through the streets and landscapes of Gaza, recording fleeting moments of everyday life, fragments of a reality now irreversibly altered.
