It will be held in Rome, the 25, 26 e 27 March 2021 the fifth edition of Aqua Film Festival, international exhibition that wants to represent, with the cinematic tool and documentation, the extraordinary world of water in its different values and operating functions, to discover new talent and in the audiovisual field. The projections of the festival, organized by Universi Aqua, a non-profit Cultural Association, will be held, for free, on the international platform of MyMovies.it, while the awards ceremony (still being defined whether in presence or not) will be held in streaming at the Casa del Cinema in Rome.
Artistic Director and founder of the Festival is Eleonora Vallone - painter, stylist, authoress, film actress, television and theater, journalist and expert on health-methodologies in water. A way to enhance water not only in an artistic way and linked to its beauty, but also to urge directors to denounce the disasters related to the lack of attention to the world of water.
Rich presence of films, shorts and documentaries. Among the shorts that will be presented: ‘M(O)to the most plastic’, by Dario Carotenuto and Dario Catania, short documentary that tells how much a place of tourism, loved how Easter Island has become a huge receptacle of plastics and microplastics responsible for extensive damage to the ecosystem. Then, the Australian animated short ‘Lost & Found’, di Andrew Goldsmith e Bradley Slabe, where a clumsy crochet dinosaur will have to unravel completely to be able to save the love of his life. Another short animation, the Italian, ‘Blu’, by Paolo Geremei : a sweet story about autism and the life of a child that can change in a gust of wind, a splash of water and a knowing look.
The short films in competition from all over the world are divided, depending on the duration, in two sections: Short (max 25 minutes) and Cortini (max 3 minutes). The social commitment section “Fratello Mare, Friend River, Caro Lago ”open to courts or curtains made with smartphones that denounce, with reports of even a few seconds or minutes, any kind of irresponsible activity that causes pollution of the sea, rivers or lakes. PREMIO Special ENIT WATER & TOURISM There are numerous special mentions provided: Aqua & Ambiente for the best documentary and AquaGranda mention for the short film about Venice. Then, the Aqua mentions & Isola, Aqua & Animation, Aqua & Thriller, Aqua & Music and Aqua & Arch.
Important patronages and partnerships marry the theme of the Aqua Film Festival, among which, for the first year Enit - National Tourism Agency, which established the new ENIT Aqua Award &tourism. For the best film that combines and enhances tourism and environmental sustainability in travel, with the addition of a special juror . First year of partnership also with Federpesca with the aim of promoting sustainability in the maritime sector, while the partnership with MediCinema Italia Onlus is consolidating, proposing the use of cinema for curative and rehabilitative purposes at the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Hospital Foundation. Due to the precautions against Covid-19, the Medicinema Gemelli cinema hall is closed, but thanks to the hospital's high technology, a mode will be activated that will send the signal to the TV monitors in the hospital rooms, to allow hospitalized patients to be able to view a summary of the best films in competition.
On the sidelines of the festival, also the now usual Workshop "Filming with a smartphone" by Francesco Crispino which will be realized on a remote video platform. A total duration of 9 hours on 3 meetings, to be held on Wednesday 7 April (from 17.00 at 20.00); Tuesday 13 April (from 17.00 at 20.00) Its tuesday 20 April (from 17.00 at 20.00). The workshop will touch on various aspects of shooting with the smartphone, from the basic notions of shooting techniques to post-production and at the end a Certificate of Participation will be issued.
